Text description provided by the architects. Pergas Cafe is located in the busy Armenian neighborhood of Jolfa, Isfahan. The design team aimed to create visual continuity in the urban body while maintaining the existing partitions.
Although we are usually faced with a specific spatial typology in cafes and restaurants, one of the main concerns in this project was to change the cafe window and create an expectation to remove the boundary between the inside and outside space.
Other elements that were considered included preserving the property’s previous walls, limiting the time for renovations, and creating competitive advantage in the neighborhood known for its many cafes.
In order to solve these concerns, a box was designed to install new partitions with minimal interference to the existing partitions, allowing for the use of micro-spaces and service sectors efficiently. Mirrors were incorporated into the design for both space coherence and advertising purposes.
